Notre Dame LB signee Nile Sykes released to join Indiana immediately
Nile Sykes received a full release from Notre Dame and will be eligible to play for Indiana in 2014.
Nile Sykes, a three-star linebacker from Notre Dame's 2014 recruiting class, has officially joined the football program at Indiana after receiving a full release from the Irish.
According to 247Sports, Sykes "reported to Notre Dame’s campus in mid-June with the rest of the freshman class" but decided to leave earlier this week. On Friday, Indiana announced that Sykes had been added to the 2014 roster.
"After Coach Kelly and Notre Dame released Nile from his NLI, he reached out to us," Wilson said. "We recruited Nile hard and he was a guy we really wanted. We are happy to have him and welcome him into our program."
The holiday press release also included an announcement that Danny Cameron, son of LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, will join the Hoosiers for the fall.
"Danny and Coach Cameron visited with us a couple weeks ago and we all feel confident that this is a strong fit," Wilson said. "Danny adds depth to our quarterback position and we are excited to welcome him back to Bloomington."
