Notre Dame pulls another player due to the academic investigation

Notre Dame announced Thursday afternoon that a fifth player will join wide receiver DeVaris Daniels, cornerback KeiVarae Russell, defensive end Ishaq Williams and linebacker Kendall Moore in missing time due to an ongoing academic investigation.

Notre Dame did not name the player in its official statement:

"As Notre Dame's internal investigation relating to potential NCAA violations reaches its conclusion, a decision has been made to hold a fifth football player out from practice and competition. As with all cases of suspected academic dishonestly, the matter will not be subject to the University's honor code process."

According to Angelo Di Carlo, of WNDU in South Bend, the fifth player is defensive back Eilar Hardy.

Hardy, a senior, appeared in 10 games and started two for the Irish last season, recording 26 tackles and one tackle for a loss.
