Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon not reporting with team during investigation
Oklahoma has confirmed that freshman running back Joe Mixon will not join the team as it reports for camp on Thursday.
Oklahoma opens fall camp on Thursday, but it will do so without highly touted freshman running back Joe Mixon.
Mixon, a five-star prospect from California, is currently involved in a police investigation related to assault allegations from an incident on Friday in Norman.
"Joe Mixon is not reporting for team activities at this time," a school spokesman said in a statement, via ESPN.com. "We will continue to monitor the situation."
Mixon hasn't been charged with any crimes, but a 20-year-old OU student told The Oklahoman on Friday evening that the freshman running back punched her in the face, breaking four bones.
Kevin Finlay, the attorney representing Mixon, insisted earlier this week that his client has done nothing wrong in the incident. According to a statement released by Finlay on Monday afternoon, Mixon was "subjected to both verbal and physical attacks from a very intoxicated and troubled young woman."
