PHOTO: Southern Miss unveils fan-voted alternate helmet
Southern Miss offered Golden Eagles fans the chance to select an alternate helmet look to be worn 'at least once' during the 2013 season.
When you've gone a jaw-dropping 0-12 and been forced to sell home games to make ends meet in the wake of firing the guy who coached you to that 0-12 season, you probably have some serious ground to make up with fans.
As part of that ground-making-up effort, at the end of May Southern Miss allowed fans to vote on which of four designs they would like to see become the team's new gold alternate helmet. The fans selected this option, and Tuesday the Golden Eagles equpiment Twitter feed sent out a photo of the finished product:
That's not bad, fans. Not bad at all. Southern Miss says the look will be worn "at least once" during the 2013 season. Could we be so bold as to suggest making that number larger than "once"? Exciting new coach, new (old) offense, new (old) results -- a stylish new helmet ought to fit right in.
