PHOTOS: Boise State to wear orange helmets vs. Ole Miss
Boise State is debuting an orange helmet in its season opener vs. Ole Miss in Atlanta.
The last time Boise State headed to Atlanta to take on an SEC team, they broke out a new set of snazzy alternate uniforms and celebrated with a big victory over Georgia.
Kellen Moore's no longer the Bronco quarterback, Chris Petersen's no longer the Bronco coach, and after losing as many games in 2013 as the previous five seasons combined, Boise State's no longer that Boise State (or so we think). But you can't blame them for trying to recapture some of that 2011 magic heading into their Thursday night season-opener against Ole Miss in the Georgia Dome, this time via a brand-new orange helmet:
Another look, via the Idaho Statesman:
Not sure how they'll look in conjunction with whatever uniform the Broncos wind up wearing -- though Nike's track record when it comes to Boise State helmets is strong -- but as long as the crowns of them don't actually wind up crumbling away like a dried riverbed, they'll be fine.
UPDATE: Via CoachingSearch, the Broncos got their new helmets by walking into the locker room after camping out -- tents and all -- on the Smurf Turf. Here's the video, and it's a quality use of your Internet time:
