After a brief hiatus spent glued to the flight tracker, the Eye On College Football Podcast is back up and rolling with another Rewind episode with Tom Fornelli (@TomFornelli). The season for coaching changes is finally winding down, so Tom and I are more than happy to slow down the coaching carousel while kicking off the beloved bowl season.
We begin with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, which exceeded most every expectation for a Dec. 15 bowl game as Arizona mounted an unbelievable comeback -- including two touchdowns in the final 46 seconds -- to defeat Nevada 49-48, giving Rich Rodriguez his first bowl win since the 2007 Gator Bowl. We also break down our favorite bowl sponsors, and the fun of getting to see these companies' advertisements more in one afternoon than we will see the rest of the year. Utah State's Chuckie Keeton and Kerwynn Williams get some praise for their impressive performances as well, as the Aggies wore down Toledo and pulled away late for a 41-15 victory.
Stick around as Tom names Kliff Kingsbury and Bobby Petrino as his favorite coaching hires of the silly season, and explains why he likes each of them for different reasons. We also spend some time looking at Wisconsin, arguably the best job still available, and try to look at the options for Barry Alvarez as the AD ponders the future of the program.
