The Badgers got the win on Saturday, but it wasn't as easy as you'd expect.

WISCONSIN WON: Though they sure made it look difficult. In what most people expected to be a laugher that was over long before halftime -- Wisconsin entered the game a 39 1/2-point favorite -- instead the Badgers got a bit of a scare put into them.
Montee Ball didn't have the best start to his Heisman campaign, though he did rush for 120 yards and a touchdown, but needed 32 carries to do so. Danny O'Brien completed 19 of his 23 pass attempts for 219 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the Badgers offense just had trouble putting points on the board. Which allowed Northern Iowa to hang around, and the Panthers did just that, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 26-21 with 7:24 remaining on the clock.
WHY WISCONSIN WON: It wasn't the best day for the Wisconsin defense, but it was good enough. Though the Badgers held Northern Iowa to only 21 points, that's still 21 points to an FCS team, and it's also an FCS team that threw for 265 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wisconsin just made the plays when it absolutely had to and got the Panthers off the field.
WHEN WISCONSIN WON: This game wasn't over until late in the fourth quarter when Sawyer Kollmorgen's pass was deflected at the line and fell to the ground incomplete on a fourth and one. Wisconsin got the ball back and just ran out the clock.
WHAT WISCONSIN WON: Not sure Wisconsin really won anything here. Sure, the Badgers are 1-0, but they didn't exactly impress while doing so. The race in the Leaders Division could be a lot more interesting than most people expected.
WHAT NORTHERN IOWA LOST: A game that it really had a chance to win, but I don't think the Panthers lost anything. No, they won a ton of respect as they outplayed their FBS and Big Ten neighbors, Iowa, for the majority of the day.
