RB Justin Taylor granted release from Kentucky
Redshirt freshman RB Justin Taylor will transfer from Kentucky after just one season.
Kentucky redshirt freshman running back Justin Taylor asked for and has been granted a release from his scholarship, the school said on Monday.
The 5-foot-10, 215-pound Taylor was a three-star recruit from Atlanta out of the class of 2012. He was an early commit to Alabama, but a senior-year knee injury caused the Tide's interest to cool, which opened the door for Kentucky to sign him.
As a power back, he appeared to be a poor fit for Kentucky's new "Air-Raid" offense and, after redshirting in the fall, he finished the spring buried deep on the depth chart.
No word yet on where Taylor will end up, but one report speculated that South Carolina State is a viable option.
