Report: Dylan Favre arrested, charged with marijuana possession
Former Mississippi State QB, and nephew of Brett, Dylan Favre was reportedly arrested Tuesday outside current school Pearl River Community College.
Dylan Favre started the 2011 football season with hopes of wedging his way into the Mississippi State starting quarterback job and cementing his future with Bulldogs. The seven months since, however, haven't gone quite as planned.
Favre -- yes, of the Mississippi Favres, a nephew of Brett -- did make a handful of appearances for the Bulldogs this past season but expressed concerns over his playing time on Twitter and eventually transferred to Pearl River (Miss.) Community College. That's where he was reportedly arrested Tuesday, according to the local Sun Herald, and charged with "possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute."
A sheriff's deputy told the Herald that a traffic stop at a convenience store near the school had led to deputies locating "marijuana and paraphernalia-type items" in Favre's vehicle.
A redshirt freshman, Favre completed 13 of his 26 passes last season for a meager 4.6 yards an attempt with one touchdown. A former Parade All-American for whom Mississippi State was his only SEC offer, breaking back into BCS-level college football after his spell at Pearl River might have always been tricky.
But if the charges stick -- particularly the serious "intent to distribute" charge -- it's going to be an even longer road back than imagined, famous name or not.
