Report: Ex-Texas A&M QB Kyle Allen to land at Houston with Tom Herman

Former Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen will reportedly land with Tom Herman at Houston, giving the Cougars a potential star under center and continuing the trend of former Aggie quarterbacks transferring to nearby locations.

Kenny Hill transferred to TCU after 2014 and Kyler Murray was recently welcomed to the Oklahoma program. Though Houston is not a direct rival of Texas A&M, it was Kevin Sumlin's last stop before moving to College Station.

Choosing Houston may also be the best choice for Allen, a former five-star prospect coming out of high school with 12 career starts in two years suiting up for the Aggies. Cougars coach Tom Herman has earned headlines with his enthusiastic approach to coaching and for his icy new grill, but don't let the fun stuff hide his value as an offensive coach.

Allen had his low points this season, including a pair of pick-sixes against Alabama in a game that really broke the spirits of a team that hoped to chase a title in the SEC West.

But we're still talking about a player with high potential and a coach who has done nothing but help his quarterbacks realize that potential in his last two stops (Greg Ward Jr., J.T. Barrett, Cardale Jones, Braxton Miller).
