Report: Former Boise State DE Ukwuachu to transfer to Baylor
Freshman All-American defensive end Sam Ukwuachu leaves Broncos to play for Bears.
"It's a done deal, and I'm reporting June 3,'' he said in the report. "Baylor was my best option. It's close to home. It's a good program. (Boise St. coach Chris Petersen) really helped me to [decide] where I wanted to go. Things just didn't work out up there.''
The 6-foot-4, 222-pounder from Pearland, Texas, was a freshman All-American for the Broncos in 2012, starting 12 games and notching seven tackles for loss and 4 1/2 sacks.
It's possible that Ukwuachu could play this fall if the NCAA grants a hardship waiver on his behalf. Othwerise, he'll sit out this coming season and have two years of eligibility remaining.
