Report: Kansas DE Chris Martin arrested after alleged robbery
Former five-star Kansas recruit Chris Martin has yet to play a down of football in the FBS.
Martin, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound junior from Oakland, Calif., was booked along with Jeremiah Edwards (who played for Kansas in 2010) and Joshua Edwards at the Douglas County Jail in Lawrence, Kan.
According to the report...
The three were booked into Douglas County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery and kidnapping. The information has been forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney's Office for consideration and the investigation is ongoing.
KU athletics officials are aware of the arrests, said Jim Marchiony, a spokesman for Kansas Athletics.
"We are gathering facts right now," Marchiony said.
It's the latest twist in what has been a tortuous path for Martin, a former five-star recruit from the class of 2010. After originally making an oral commitment to Notre Dame, Martin signed with California, only to transfer to Florida five months after signing day. He left the Gators after one year following a marijuana arrest and ended up in the junior college ranks before finally settling on Kansas. He has yet to play a down of FBS football.
