Report: Navy investigating players for sexual assault
Three Naval Academy football players are reportedly under investigation for sexually assaulting a female midshipman.
The Naval Academy is investigating three football players in the sexual assault of a female student at Navy , Academy officials confirmed in a report by Military.com.
The players were not named, nor was it revealed when the investigation started.
"Naval Academy leadership is monitoring the progress of this investigation and evaluating the appropriate options for adjudication," Naval Academy spokesman Cmdr. John Schofield said. "It is completely inappropriate to make any other public comment on this investigation or any ongoing investigation as we risk compromising the military justice process."
The Academy did not reveal when the investigation is expected to be completed. Neither Academy superintendent Vice Admiral Michael Miller nor coach Ken Niumatalolo were made available to comment because the probe is ongoing, the web site reported.
