Report: Ohio State seeking to increase stadium capacity by 2,500
Ohio Stadium will be third-largest college football stadium in the nation in 2014 if the number of seats is increased by 2,500.
Athletic director Gene Smith told the Dispatch via text that his department will send the $9 million proposal to the university's board of trustees next week.
The seats would be added to the south end zone and would push the stadium's overall capacity from 102,329 to 104,829.
The expansion would make it college football's third-largest stadium behind those at Michigan (109,901) and Penn State (106,572).
