Miami tight end Beau Sandland has reportedly requested to transfer from Miami, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Sandland played in all 13 games last season, recording nine catches for 94 yards and a touchdown. He joined the Hurricanes after two seasons of junior college ball at Los Angeles Pierce College, where he was ranked as a four-star prospect and one of the top JUCO talents in the 2013 recruiting class.

According to Matt Porter, of the Palm Beach Post, Sandland may be looking to transfer closer to home.

Sources said Sandland, who was not at practice Monday morning, wanted to attend college and play football in an environment more like his Woodland Hills, Calif. home, which borders the Santa Monica Mountains.

Sandland was not at practice on Monday and head coach Al Golden offered no comment on his status with the team.

Sandland was expected to see some action as a reserve in 2014. His departure leaves senior Clive Walford and sophomore Stan Dobard as the primary options at tight end. It's one less target for freshman quarterback Brad Kayaa, who will be making his first collegiate start on Monday, Sept. 1 at Louisville .
