Former BYU quarterback Jake Heaps could soon be former Kansas quarterback Jake Heaps as well.

According to multiple reports from Jordan Buscarini and ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy Tuesday night, Heaps is transferring from Kansas.

The problem with those reports, though, is if Heaps is transferring, Kansas coach Charlie Weis doesn't know about it yet.

Weis told KUSports.com through a spokesperson that Heaps, who transferred to Kansas from BYU before the 2012 season, was at a team meeting on Tuesday evening, and that he's still on the roster. Buscarini originally reported that Heaps had been given permission to talk to a number of schools, including Utah State, Eastern Illinois, Boise State, SMU, Fresno State and Hawaii, but a Kansas spokesperson told KUSports.com that they did not know where that list came from.

What we do know is that Charlie Weis announced earlier this month that Montell Cozart would be Kansas' starting quarterback in 2014. We also know that Heaps has one year of eligibility remaining, so it's entirely plausible that he doesn't want to spend it as a backup.

Heaps played in 11 games for the Jayhawks last season, completing only 49% of his passes for 1,414 yards, eight touchdowns and ten interceptions.
