Source: Texas RB Johnathan Gray cleared for workouts

Running back Johnathan Gray, who tore his Achilles tendon on Nov. 9 against West Virginia, has been cleared to resume full workouts next week, a source told CBSSports.com on Thursday night.
Gray ran for 780 yards and four touchdowns on 159 carries before missing the season's last four games with the injury.
Gray has been working out all summer but the team is letting him loose next week. The tandem of Gray and Malcolm Brown will be crucial for the Longhorns as they navigate a transitional phase at quarterback. David Ash seemed poised for a solid 2013 performance but missed 10 games last season due to concussions. Rising sophomore Tyrone Swoopes is talented but unproven. Former USC quarterback Max Wittek was poised to transfer to Texas but didn't graduate on time and thus would have to sit out a year.
