South Carolina OL Rodgers charged with disorderly conduct
South Carolina redshirt freshman offensive lineman Na'Ty Rodgers was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with two minor offenses.
Redshirt freshman Na'Ty Rodgers was charged with disorderly conduct and consumption of alcohol by a minor after officers responded to a "civil disturbance" in Columbia at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Per police, Rodgers was "acting in a loud and boisterous manner" and smelled of alcohol while talking to officers.
Both charges are misdemeanors. Per school athletics policy, his arrest means Rodgers faces an automatic indefinite suspension. Neither South Carolina nor coach Steve Spurrier has issued a comment.
A Pomfret, Md., native, Rodgers was a 247Sports composite three-star in the class of 2013, but had also been named an Under Armour All-American and a four-star recruit by 247Sports' individual ratings. Per The Big Spur, Rodgers has been competing for the starting right guard position, getting the nod on the initial spring depth chart but working behind junior Mike Matulis in recent practices.
Rodgers made one appearance for the Gamecocks in 2013 but injured his thumb, leading to his redshirt.
