Tom Herman was officially announced as Texas coach on Saturday evening, one day after Houston's season ended with a loss to Memphis.

On Sunday, Herman will be officially introduced as the Longhorns' next coach at a 6 p.m. ET press conference, but before that, he released a statement on Twitter thanking his players and the University of Houston for his two great years with the Cougars.

A sincere thank you to the University of Houston players, fans, alumni and administration. We have always maintained that we love this university and this city and that remains true to this day. Coaches and players will come and go, but no one can take with them the accomplishments that belong to this University. Our goal when we got here was to invest all of our time, effort and energy into improving the culture, fan support, facilities and national relevancy, so that if we ever left this university, it would be in a better place than when we got here. We believe the University of Houston will continue its rise to prominence and we will proudly watch from a distance. And to our beloved players - relationships extend well beyond the football field. You will always be considered a part of our family and our door will always be open for you.

-- Tom and Michelle Herman

Herman went 22-4 in his two seasons in Houston, improving on the 21-17 record Tony Levine had in the three years prior to Herman taking over the program.
