Transfer QB target talks interest in UVa

Virginia has made no secret that they’re looking at bringing transfers at quarterback to bridge the gap between the senior signal caller Kurt Benkert and UVa’s freshman crop.
“What I would like to do is have a graduate transfer that has two years left,” said head coach Bronco Mendenhall. “What that would do, is it would allow us to have a great back-up, either way, and someone now who is ready for the next year as first years are developing.
A new name emerged on the UVa radar on Monday that fit both of those parameters.
Missouri redshirt sophomore quarterback Marvin Zanders tweeted a picture that had the UVa fanbase talking.
Wahoos247 caught up with Zanders about the tweet.
“Virginia is under heavy consideration,” said the Florida native. “They’re my favorite.”
Asked why UVa leads for his services, Zanfers was right to the point.
“I really like the coaches and academics. UVa is a top-notch university.”
Up next for the dual-threat signal caller is a visit to Charlottesville.
“I’ll be setting up my visit soon hopefully. The plan is to visit in January.”
Zanders, much like Kurt Benkert last year, is a redshirt sophomore, who will graduate in May.
He will be eligible to play immediately and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
This past season, Zanders completed 10-of-12 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 35 times for 198 yards and two scores.
