VIDEO: Barry Sanders' high school highlight reel
As a high school football player, yes, Barry Sanders was just a bit on the special side. Here's a highlight video.
In case you've forgotten: In 1988 for Oklahoma State, Barry Sanders rushed for an FBS-record 2,628 yards, doing it only 11 games -- an average of 239 yards per game. Read that again, please: an average of 239 yards per game. Yes, that's also an FBS record, and one that's going to be broken, oh, about the same time a Major League Baseball pitcher wins more games than Cy Young's 511.
So, no, it's not exactly a surprise to watch this video of Sanders' highlights from high school -- unearthed Thursday by BarkingCarnival.com -- and discover that he is much, much better than his competition. But it is still a surprise, and a delightful one, simply to watch Sanders run, and shimmy, and accelerate, and, well, do all the hundred things with the ball in his hands few if any football players have attempted before or since.
