VIDEO: Gale Sayers' dominant career

While most people know Gale Sayers as the Hall of Fame running back of the Chicago Bears, before he took over the NFL and saw himself portrayed in the film Brian's Song, Sayers was a dominant force on the college football field as well.

His performances with the Kansas Jayhawks are why he was called the "Kansas Comet." During his three seasons with the Jayhawks Sayers gained 3,073 total yards from scrimmage and scored 19 touchdowns. Those numbers might seem a bit pedestrian by today's standards, but they were good enough to see Sayers named a consensus All-American in 1963 and 1964.
