VIDEO: Marshall strength coach has flaming paddle broken over back
As a motivational technique before Marshall's game against Tulsa last season, Marshall strength and conditioning coach Joseph Miday lights a wooden paddle on fire and then breaks it on the back of assistant Scott Wilks. Miday has since left for a job with Western Kentucky.
That is an interesting pregame motivational technique.
This video was shot before Marshall's 45-38 loss to Tulsa last season, and that is former Marshall strength and conditioning coach Joseph Miday having a flaming paddle broken over his back by assistant strength and conditioning coach Scott Wilks.
Because simply having a paddle broken over your back isn't enough. That thing needs to be on fire.
Sadly this won't be happening at any more Marshall games as Miday has left the school to take the same position with Western Kentucky. I suppose it's possible Marshall could always hire former Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice, though he's far more likely to break the paddle over one of his players' backs than his own.
