On Wednesday, we learned the College Football Playoff selection committee might include current athletic directors -- a departure from previous reports regarding the requirements of committee members. Former coaches, former players and former media members are also potential candidates for the group that will decide the participants in the four-team College Football Playoff, beginning with the 2014 season.
Current athletic directors are included in the selection committee for the men's basketball tournament, which has been the starting point for the first college football playoff. In the basketball selection committee meetings, an athletic director will leave the room when his school is being discussed. The same practice is expected for the football selection committee if current AD's are included.
