VIDEO: Vanderbilt coach James Franklin on College Football 360
Vanderbilt coach James Franklin joined Kevin Corke and Bruce Feldman on CBSSports.com's College Football 360 to preview the 2012 season.
There's been a different vibe around the Vanderbilt program since James Franklin was named head coach before the 2011 season. After recording just four wins combined in the two seasons before Franklin's arrival, the Commodores finished with six wins and a bowl berth in 2012 - only their second postseason appearance since 1982.
Franklin joined Kevin Corke and Bruce Feldman on CBSSports.com's College Football 360 to preview Vanderbilt's season opener against South Carolina on Thursday, and discuss the season ahead.
With Jordan Rodgers and Zac Stacy - among others -returning for the Commodores, there is a feeling that there will not be a let down in year two under Franklin. However, the head coach said he doesn't think about the "sophomore campaign." Instead he treats each game like "the Super Bowl," beginning with South Carolina on Thursday.
Franklin does not have history on his side, as he will try to become the first Vanderbilt coach since 1974 to post a winning record in his second season at the school. In fact, all of Vanderbilt's coaches since then - except for Watson Brown in 1986 - failed to improve on their record from year one to year two.
