Video: Wisconsin DT Warren Herring hits halfcourt shot for charity
Wisconsin basketball coach Bo Ryan donated more than $41,000, including $1,000 when Badgers defensive tackle Warren Herring made a halfcourt shot, to the Coaches vs. Cancer organization.
On Thursday night Wisconsin basketball coach Bo Ryan issued a challenge to Wisconsin students. Show up to the Kohl Center, and for every free throw that the students hit Ryan would donate $10 to Coaches vs. Cancer. Ryan upped the stakes for half-court shots, pledging $1,000 for every half-court shot the students made. Those who showed up -- and Ryan donated $1 for every student who attended -- were allowed one shot of each.
What Ryan wasn't expecting was that he might have found a new sharpshooter on the Badgers' football team, as defensive tackle Warren Herring showed up and hit nothing but the bottom of the net from half-court.
Big body, excellent range, already on scholarship. Ryan mightwant to open up a roster spot.
As for the fundraiser, when it was all said and done, more than 1,600 showed up to the event and Ryan ended up donating $41,279 to Coaches vs. Cancer.
