Florida State didn't just need a win against USF last Saturday, it needed a hard restart. The historic blowout loss to Lamar Jackson and Louisville shook the college football landscape, but Jimbo Fisher saw to it that it wouldn't shake the Seminoles enough to impact their next game against the Bulls.

USF is a dangerous American Athletic Conference team under Willie Taggart and doubt in the Seminoles actually saw the betting line drop more than a field goal prior to kickoff. Picking against FSU became trendy after seeing its defensive woes against Jackson, but picking against FSU ignored the advantage held by running back Dalvin Cook in this particular matchup.

Cook ran for 267 yards at 9.5 yards per carry with two touchdowns, totaling the most scrimmage yards for any Power Five back since 2014. Still, he wasn't satisfied with the result after the game.

"How we beat them -- it was a dogfight until the end," Cook told his teammates after the win. "We got a lot of work to do. Okay, we won. We going to settle for that? For real, don't settle for that!"

Fisher echoed Cook's plea, pointing out the imperfections in the 55-35 win.

"We let up. They should never have stopped us one drive. Your focus and your dedication, if you don't want to pay that price, don't play at Florida State."
