Will Penn State make the College Football Playoff? Hard to say, but more than a few of our experts seem to think the newly-crowned Big Ten champions deserve a chance.

James Franklin made his case after the Nittany Lions knocked off Wisconsin 38-31 on Saturday night in Indianapolis. Penn State fans in the building were going crazy as their coach stumped for the team while back home there was mayhem in the streets.

State College was caught between riotous jubilation and old-fashioned college celebration throughout the evening, charging Beaver Avenue but also causing enough commotion to bring out the police.

According to ESPN's Coley Harvey, the police used pepper spray and rubber bullets to clear the streets when the celebration began causing public safety issues. Even students and fans who were caught in the crossfire didn't seem to care, he wrote.

It's easy to understand the heightened excitement given the recent scandal, NCAA probation and 22-year drought without an outright Big Ten championship. That excitement resulted in a lamp post getting uprooted and carried down the street.

When it was really time to break up the party, the mounted police showed up. Nothing breaks up a crowd quite like equestrians.
