Now, right off the bat, I'll just say that among some of the home-and-home series that have been announced in recent months, a series between West Virginia and North Carolina State isn't the sexiest. I get that. But you know what's awesome about this series?

It isn't planned for like 2025 like the others. You only have to wait four more seasons before the first game is played between these two teams! The first game is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2018 in Morgantown, with the Mountaineers making the return trip to Raleigh on Sept. 14, 2019.

“I am excited about this series, because it gives our football program and our fans an outstanding home-and-home series with a team from the ACC,” said West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck in a release. “WVU has a lot of alumni living in North Carolina, especially in the triangle region, so it gives our fans a game that is close. We have had a competitive games over the years with NC State, and this is a chance to restart the series.”

These two schools do have history with one another, as they've played 10 times before, splitting the series with five wins apiece. The last meeting was in the 2010 Capital One Bowl, which North Carolina State won 23-7. That loss led to West Virginia firing Bill Stewart and replacing him with Dana Holgorsen.
