WVU QB Trickett says Saban's daughter was first kiss at age 6
So Clint Trickett and Nick Saban have an interesting connection.
Nick Saban's from West Virginia. His No. 2 Crimson Tide open the season against West Virginia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic Saturday. So it's no surprise a few storylines from his Mountaineer connections might emerge during the build-up.
But the storyline that did emerge Tuesday involving West Virginia Mountaineer quarterback Clint Trickett ... yes, that was a surprise. Trickett told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that his first kiss "back in the day" was with none other than Kristen Saban, the daughter of the Alabama coach himself.
"I don't know if I should have said that," Trickett said with a laugh immediately after his revelation. "For clarification, we were like 6 years old! Just so everyone knows that."
Trickett's father Rick coached under Saban at LSU in the early Aughts, and (Clint pointed out) his brother Travis served as a graduate assistant under Saban at Alabama. Clint called the Sabans "family friends" and said the Crimson Tide coach was "just one of the best coaches out there."
Nice try, Clint! But it's too late now, pal.
The Tide and Mountaineers kick off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, with Alabama a 26-point favorite.
