Texas freshman Kabongo returning to school

Myck Kabongo is returning to Texas .

The Longhorns Canadian point guard has decided to return to school after an up-and-down freshman campaign.

"I think we have a chance to be a special team," Kabongo told CBSSports.com. "I want to become a better leader and player."

The 6-foot-1 floor leader averaged 9.6 points per game and 5.2 assists, but he was erratic throughout the season, also averaging three turnovers per contest.

With the return of Kabongo, the attention turns to what junior guard J'Covan Brown will do. Brown led the team in scoring at 20.1 points and could elect to head to the NBA.

Rick Barnes' team was loaded with new faces this past season and still managed to get to the NCAA tournament.

Texas will return freshmen Sheldon McClellan, Kabongo, Julien Lewis and Jonathan Holmes -- four of the team's top six scorers.
