Pittsburgh lands commitment from Central Michigan transfer Zeigler
When Central Michigan fired Ernie Zeigler last month the school ensured it would also lose its best player because its best player was Trey Zeigler -- the coach's son.
The beneficiary of this is Pittsburgh.
The younger Zeigler has committed to the Panthers.
"Just committed to the University of Pittsburgh!" Trey tweeted Saturday. His father -- who used to work at Pitt alongside current head coach Jamie Dixon and under former head coach Ben Howland -- subsequently confirmed the news by phone to CBSSports.com.
Trey Zeigler averaged 15.8 points and 6.7 rebounds this season at Central Michigan. The 6-foot-5 guard will likely sit out next season per transfer rules. He would then have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2013-14.
