Bernie Fine accuser Zach Tomaselli says he lied -- again

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

Less than one week ago, Zach Tomaselli came out and said that he made up everything he has said about former Syracuse assistant coach Bernie Fine.

Tomaselli had originally accused Fine of sexually abusing him as a child. He said he lied for fun, and was finally coming clean because “the burden of a lie” was too much.

“It was a game to me,” Tomaselli told CNY Central five days ago. “It was fun trying to make this story come alive.

At the time, my colleague Matt Norlander wrote: “Is this the truth? Are you lying again, Zach Tomaselli?” And we have our answer – maybe.

On Wednesday evening, Tomaselli released a statement that contradicted his quotes from last week. “Yes, my credibility with the media is shot but I am not going to give up now,” the statement read. “Bernie molested me. PERIOD.”

Five days ago, this was Tomaselli's statement: “I NEVER met Bernie Fine.”

Tomaselli, 23, is beginning a three-year prison sentence in Maine for sexually abusing a teen at a summer camp.

To paraphrase Norlander: “Is Tomaselli lying again?”
