North Texas star Tony Mitchell staying in school

Despite the coaching change, Tony Mitchell is staying at North Texas.

New Mean Green coach Tony Benford told CBSSports.com that the 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward, who averaged 14.7 points and 10.3 rebounds last season for Johnny Jones, has opted to return to college for another year.

Benford, the former associate head coach at Marquette, replaced Jones - who left for LSU earlier in the month. Benford had recruited Mitchell at Marquette.

Mitchell was considered a potential first-round pick, but opted to return to school and work on his perimeter skills.
