Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg has suspended senior guard Chris Babb for one exhibition and the first two regular season games for violating team rules.

Babb averaged 7.8 points per game last season and is one of the nation's top defenders. His role is set to increase this season with the loss of Royce White, Chris Allen and Scott Christopherson -- the Cyclones top three scorers.

The 6-foot-4 Babb will sit out Sunday's exhibition game against Minnesota State and also miss the regular-season opener against Southern next Friday and a home contest against Alabama A&M on Nov. 12.

Iowa State will attempt to have success again this season via transfers. Both Will Clyburn (Utah) and Korie Lucious (Michigan State) will be eligible after sitting out last season.
