Sources: Denver leaving WAC for the Summit next year
Sources have informed CBSSports.com that the University of Denver will again play in a new league come next season.
The Pioneers will move from the WAC to the Summit League, presumably with the intentions of staying there -- at least for the foreseeable future. Denver left the Sun Belt for the WAC on July 1 of this year, meaning the program will have paid rent in three conferences for three consecutive years, making it among the most unstable schools in regard to realignment in recent history.
A formal announcement of the move is expected Tuesday.
Denver, which boasts 17 varsity teams, has never reached the NCAA tournament in men's basketball.
