N.C. State breaks out 'Don't Ever Give Up' jerseys for Jimmy V Classic

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

North Carolina State will play Connecticut next week in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. The annual event benefits The V Foundation for Cancer Research, formed by legendary coach Jim Valvano in 1993.

Of course, Valvano coached at N.C. State for 10 seasons, reaching seven NCAA tournaments and winning a national championship in 1983.

In honor of the event, Adidas and the Wolfpack are breaking out new uniforms -- and they're unique and awesome.

The front isn't anything crazy, with “STATE” on top of basketball netting in the background. The back, though, features “Don't Ever Give Up” -- the famous line from Valvano's inspirational speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards, a speech that he gave just eight weeks before dying of cancer. Keep an eye on the netting, though -- very reminiscent of when Valvano (or anyone else) cut down the net after winning the nationl championship and then hung it around his neck.
