VIDEO: Valpo with another buzzer-beater because why not
WHAT MONTH IS IT?
IT IS MARCH.
So things like this aren't surprising.
Yet I still can't believe them when they happen.
I guess that's part of the everlasting charm of this sport and this month.
Here's the deal. Valparaiso's best player, Ryan Broekhoff, nearly lost his dribble and then tossed up a prayer 3-pointer that fell through to give his team a 70-69 victory.
The shot advanced the top-seeded Crusaders to Tuesday night's Horizon League title game. In case you missed it, the other semifinal Saturday also produced a similar, dramatic ending.
Now: Notice Valpo coach Bryce Drew, who is famous for a buzzer-beater of his own, back in 1998 when he was playing for this very same program. Once the shot falls, see the mind sentinels taking over Drew's body and slithering him along the floor. Just go with it, Bryce. We get it.
I love everything about this Saturday.
