Dan Hurley is headed to Rhode Island .
Sources told CBSSports.com that the 39-year-old Wagner head coach has agreed to a six-year deal replace Jim Baron in Kingston as the Rams head coach. Hurley informed his team on Tuesday morning.
A news conference is scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Hurley was 38-23 in two seasons since taking over in 2010. Wagner was 25-6 and lost to Robert Morris in the NEC semifinals.
Hurley is the son of Hall of Fame high school coach Bob Hurley. His brother, former Duke star point guard Bobby Hurley, has been on his staff at Wagner -- and will likely spurn the opportunity to take the head job at Wagner, instead electing to go to URI.
Dan Hurley was also an assistant at Rutgers for four seasons before building prep power St. Benedict's in New Jersey, where he was 223-21 in nine seasons.
The former Seton Hall guard takes over a Rhode Island program that was 7-24 this past season.
Wagner attempted to keep Hurley in Staten Island, putting together a more lucrative financial package. However, sources told CBSSports.com that Hurley was frustrated that a 25-win campaign didn't even yield an invitation to a postseason tournament.
