Sources: Martin in talks with South Carolina, but deal isn't done yet

Kansas State's Frank Martin is expected to meet with South Carolina officials today and could become the Gamecocks' coach soon, but sources have told CBSSports.com that reports suggesting a deal is already in place are "premature."

"It's not done," a source said. "It's really not done yet."

The presumed move is curious on the surface but makes some sense once you understand the strained relationship between Martin and KSU athletic director John Currie. The two haven't existed together well for a while now. So though Kansas State might be a better basketball job than South Carolina, it's not necessarily a better basketball job for Martin given the circumstances at this time.

Martin has made four NCAA tournaments in five years at Kansas State.

He's never won fewer than 21 games.
