Texas junior J'Covan Brown leaving school early

By Jeff Goodman | College Basketball Insider

J'Covan Brown is leaving Texas for the NBA.

The Longhorns junior guard, who led a young team to an NCAA tournament berth, has decided to sign with an agent and forgo his final year in college.

Brown averaged 20.1 points and 3.8 assists this past season.

"There were a lot of reasons to come back to school next year, most importantly getting my degree and being around my teammates every day," Brown said. "But the time has come for me to pursue a career in professional basketball and take care of my daughter, Jordyn."

That means Texas will be led by a group of six sophomores and freshmen next season.
