Arizona associate head coach James Whitford is staying in Tucson.
Sources told CBSSports.com that Whitford, who was on Charlie Coles' staff for more than a decade, has spurned the opportunity to coach at Miami-Ohio.
Whitford spent four years with Sean Miller and Xavier and has been on the staff at Arizona since Miller arrived three years ago.
Whitford was Coles' top assistant at Miami for eight years and 11 overall. The RedHawks were 201-130 in that span and went to the Sweet 16 in 1999 with a group that was led by Wally Szczerbiak.
Tennessee State coach John Cooper was also brought in to campus this past week and could be the front-runner now.
