Kent has already interviewed for the opening.

An announcement could come as soon as Wednesday.

Kent made two Elite Eights in 13 years at Oregon before being fired after the 2009-10 season. If hired, he would replace Tim Miles and beat out a host of other candidates Colorado State considered -- among them New Mexico State coach Marvin Menzies, Southern Miss coach Larry Eustachy, Weber State coach Randy Rahe and New Mexico assistant Craig Neal.
