Maryland adds Michigan transfer Evan Smotrycz

Maryland has added Michigan transfer Evan Smotrycz.

The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 7.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this past season as a sophomore while shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc.

"I had a great time on my visit and felt really comfortable with the coaches and the players," Smotrycz told CBSSports.com. "I didn't feel like I needed to go anywhere else."

Smotrycz, a Massachusetts native, was also planning on taking visits to Colorado and Providence.

Smotrycz will sit next season and have two remaining with Terps coach Mark Turgeon, who was in need of a skilled forward.
