Binghamton expected to hire Rider's Dempsey

By Jeff Goodman | College Basketball Insider

Rider coach Tommy Dempsey is headed to Binghamton barring a last-second collapse in negotiations.

The news was first reported by the Trenton Times and confirmed by CBSSports.com.

The 38-year-old Dempsey will replace Mark Macon, who was 23-70 in three seasons before being fired on April 30. Binghamton was 2-29 last year.

Dempsey, who grew up about an hour outside of Binghamton, is 119-105 in seven seasons at Rider.
