Providence star freshman undergoing MRI on right shoulder

One of the biggest keys to Providence's 2012-13 season is incoming freshman point guard Kris Dunn, and at the moment, it's not known how (seriously?) injured Dunn is.

It's cause for pause, and maybe some alarm, for Friar fans.

The Providence Journal reported Monday morning that Dunn injured his shoulder recently while training with the U18 USA Basketball team in Colorado.

CBSSports.com confirmed the news after speaking with PC coach Ed Cooley.

"I've no reaction at all right now," Cooley said when asked of Dunn's injury. "His shoulder is hurting, so right now we're having him looked at by doctors and we should know what's [wrong] by the end of the week. For now, we're having an MRI done."

Cooley said he believes it is Dunn's right shoulder that is hurting. Dunn initially injured the shoulder last season while playing for New London (Conn.) High School.

Dunn is one of the best recruits to sign on at Providence in years. He's rated as the No. 23 overall prospect by CBSSports.com's Jeff Borzello.
