CBS hires Doug Gottlieb from ESPN

By Jeff Goodman | College Basketball Insider

CBS has added Doug Gottlieb to its stable. Sure, he can rub people the wrong way at times. I'll admit that was the case with me at the outset.

However, he has grown on me (alright, I'll admit that he is actually a good friend of mine) and is right there with the best in the industry when it comes to his knowledge, presentation and ability to express strong opinions. It's a huge addition for CBS.

Gottlieb will contribute on a variety of fronts:

- CBS Sports Radio - He'll host afternoons (3-6 p.m. ET) on the newly created 24-hour, seven-day-a-week network. He'll debut on the day the network launches -- Jan. 2, 2013.

- CBS Sports - Will be a studio and game analyst for the regular season and also throughout the NCAA tournament.

- CBS Sports Network - Will host a show airing weekdays beginning in the fall and will be an analyst for regular-season college basketball.

- CBSSports.com - Will contribute here with columns, podcasts and College Basketball 360.

Yes, we've agreed to let him express his ideas on the .com side, but only if he gets a Parrish-esque haircut, rips Matt Norlander's Mid-Major Pyramid and admits that Phil Pressey is the top point guard in the country.

In all seriousness, this is a terrific addition by CBS' Sean McManus.
