NEW YORK -- The Big East might be changing, but the venue for its conference tournament is staying the same.

New conference commissioner Mike Aresco announced Wednesday at the league's media day that the Big East and Madison Square Garden have reached an agreement on a multiyear extension to keep the tournament at MSG.
"To have this tournament here, long into the future, at the Garden is huge," Aresco told Brendan Prunty of The Newark Star-Ledger. "I think it makes a real statement about our conference. About what our conference is, about what it's going to be. That's where we belong."
The current deal runs through the 2015-16 season, but Aresco said the new deal would extend through 2025-26.
With Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Syracuse leaving to join the ACC, there was some talk the ACC would move its conference tournament to MSG.
"There's no better tournament in America than the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden," Aresco said. "And Madison Square Garden? It's the centerpiece. It's where you want to be. And that's where we're going to be for the long-term."
The Big East has held its tournament at MSG since 1983, the fourth year of the conference.
