Indiana a one seed, but not THE one seed

Indiana picked up a huge win over former No. 1 Michigan at home Saturday night and will likely take over the top spot in the polls this week. That was enough to move the Hoosiers up to the top line of the bracket; however, they are the fourth No. 1 seed, not the overall No. 1.

To explain why, let me pose this question: What do the other three top seeds (Duke, Kansas, Michigan) have in common? They have all beaten tournament quality Big Ten teams away from home.

Indiana can't say that. In fact, only a recent surge by Georgetown gives the Hoosiers the chance to say they beat someone decent away from home at all. At Assembly Hall, IU is the No. 1 team in the nation without question. Well, unless they are playing Wisconsin. Away from home, not so much. And that is what is keeping them from the highest spot in the bracket for now.

That can get fixed this week, though. The Hoosiers visit both Illinois and Ohio State.

Nobody flew up the bracket higher than Oklahoma State this weekend. The Cowboys upended Kansas in Lawrence, which is arguably the best win any team has on its tournament resume.

Oregon continues to struggle and slide down the bracket without PG Dominic Artis. The Ducks got swept in the Bay Area this weekend and has fallen to the middle of the bracket.
