The Maine women's basketball team's bus careened off the highway and crashed in Georgetown, Mass., Tuesday night.

"State Police said preliminary investigations suggest the charter bus was driving southbound when it crossed the median and crashed into woods adjacent to northbound side," according to WHDH.

UPDATE: A release from the school early Wednesday morning showed player Milica Mitrovic sustained a broken hand. Additionally, the team's game against Boston University, scheduled for Wednesday night, has been canceled. The team's head coach, Richard Barron, had minor cuts to his face as well and was treated.

"Three team members were transported to an area hospital for observation — players Ashleigh Roberts and Corinne Wellington, and Samantha Wheeler, the team's director of basketball operations," the statement said. "'We're very thankful that this accident was not any worse than it was," Robert Dana, vice president for student affairs and dean of students said. 'The thoughts of the entire University of Maine community are with the bus driver and the team as they contend with this very frightening event.'"
